Three of The Wand

European Tarot card study points:

Ancient Indian Tarot card study points:

A sage in his saffron clothes talking to the sea. He is holding one wand by the right hand and marking the sea with the other two wands.

He is Maharshi Agastya Muni, who dries up the Ocean with his miraculous power. The demon Kalakeya was notorious. He shakes up every deity. He took shelter in the deep Sea. It was difficult to find him. The mission was handed over to Agastya Muni to threaten the sea. The sea laughs at the muni. So Agastya muni dried up the sea with his powers.

(Detail story of Agastya muni.)

Once there was a great Asur named Vritasur. He had a friendship with many other Daityas, like Kalakeya, to protect him. He was very mighty. When Gods could not kill him, they went to Brahmaji for solutions. Brahmaji told any other weapons could not kill Vritasur but if the great Seer Dadhichi Muni donates his bones then only Vritasur could be killed with the Vajrs made of Bones. God Indra came over to earth and narrated the whole story of demons Vritasur to Mahrshi Dadhihi. Indra also prayed to Dadhichi Muni for his bones. Dadhichi Muni happily sat in Yogasan, burnt his whole body by fire, and gave his bones to kill Vritasur.

God Indra made Vajra out of those bones, fought with Vritasur, and killed him. As soon as he was killed, his protectors Kalakeya ran away and hide in the deep ocean. Then Gods again had a problem finding him, because the sea was endless, that we're unable to find him.

At last, gods went to Vaikuntha where Lord Vishnu was asleep, Bramhaji asked the way to kill him. Lord Vishnu said to Brahmaji that Demons can be killed if the ocean is dried up and for that Agastya Muni was the perfect person.

So Indra and gods came to Maharshi Agastya and prayed to drink the whole ocean. Agastya Muni was ready and had drunk the whole sea in front of all gods. Gods found the Kalakeya and killed him. Then gods again prayed him to return the ocean water at that Agastya Muni told that he couldn't return all digested water to the ocean.

Gods again went to Brhamalok for returning of water from Agastya Muni. Brahmaji assured them and told that do not to worry about water as Bhagirath would be able to bring back water through Ganga. Thus, water again filled up the ocean.
